Announcement of ‘Jail Hill’
Millbrook MTB is proud to be building on our success.
Sep 15, 2024 – We have obtained a lease agreement that allows us to maintain the trails on the rear property of the decommissioned Millbrook Correctional Centre, commonly known as Jail Hill. As our club continues to grow a community that builds, maintains, and rides trails in Millbrook, we hope you will join us in enjoying these trails!
**As we are continuing to clear and revitalize these trails, they are not officially open for Cyclists. Please watch this page and our social media for opening announcements.**
Our volunteer trail builders have been working to bring the existing single track at Jail Hill into better condition and generally Millbrook MTB looks to the Whistler Trail Standards.
Dog walkers who use the loop will soon notice our new signage for the single-track that is along the hill. Please feel welcome to explore on foot or by bike, but please note these are multi-use trails designed with trail standards that are intended for mountain bike riding.
As a matter of courtesy, Millbrook MTB suggests that mountain bike riders ought to yield to pedestrians as well as other riders who are climbing.
The Millbrook MTB Trails
When you park at the entrance to the property (706 County Rd. 21), soon you will notice signage indicating access points to the MTB trails. The best way to find all the Millbrook MTB trails is by using Trailforks.
Trails Included within the Jail Hill Property(Map Below)
Prison Loop (Outer loop) Difficulty: Green, Distance: 1.3km
Visiting Hours, Difficulty: Blue, Distance: 160m
Doin’ Time, Difficulty: Blue, Distance: 220m
Razzle Dazzle, Difficulty: Black, Distance: 260m
Millbrook MTB will post wayfinding signage consistent with our signs at the MNR Trout Ponds property.
Our Thanks
Special thanks to Dan Horner and Todd McCall for your work on behalf of Millbrook MTB to obtain trail access at Jail Hill.
Millbrook MTB extends our thanks to Martha Ciana R.M.T. at Kenetic Care and Dr. Cara MacMullin N.D. and who generously donated the lease fees to use these trails for the next five years.
Millbrook MTB recognizes that our new access may feel complicated and we appreciate the opportunity to build on the once rogue trails on Jail Hill. We extend our thanks to our neighbours for working with us to ensure that Jail Hill becomes a safe, fun, recreational environment that can be enjoyed by many.
Thanks to trail builders of the past for starting something, and to the trail builders of today for working with us to make these trails quality.
Donations Appreciated
Donations to Millbrook MTB directly support our trail building, maintenance, and signage costs. If you would like to make a donation to Millbrook MTB please send us an e-transfer to MillbrookMTB@gmail.com or use the donation button on our website at https://millbrookmtb.com/
Note: Millbrook MTB is not able to issue tax receipts.
Looking forward to everyone in the MTB community joining us as we continue to grow the Millbrook MTB community and make Jail Hill a great place for everyone to enjoy!
